Nighttime Low Temperatures

Nightly low temperatures remain fairly cool in April, with average minimums around the coast of about 16.5°C. Coastal temperatures rarely drop below 14°C in April, and the warmest nights are around 18°C. All this means that you will probably still need a jacket, cardigan or fleece for the evenings.

Away from the coast, it can be quite a bit cooler: Tenerife North Airport sees an average low of 10.9°C in April, and sub-zero nights are still common at higher altitudes.

Cloud Cover

April can be a fairly cloudy month in Tenerife, though, as always, the south is much sunnier than the north. Tenerife South Airport sees an average of 2.6 completely overcast days in April, while Tenerife North sees an average of 6.8 totally overcast days during the month. The south sees an average of 6 completely clear days without a cloud in the sky, with varying levels of sun/cloud the rest of the time.

Rain

There is an even bigger contrast between the north and south when it comes to rain in April. Tenerife North Airport sees an average of 9 or 10 days with rain during the month, while Tenerife South Airport sees just one or two. In reality, while there is a chance of rainy weather in southern Tenerife in April, it’s just as likely that there to be no rain at all.

Sea Temperature

The sea is only beginning to start warming up in April, and remains at around 19°C around Tenerife. This is still fairly cool, so while it might be okay for a quick dip, a wetsuit is advisable if you plan on any activities such as surfing or snorkelling.
