The Tenerife Opera will be performing the famous Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart opera called The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), adapted for family opera, a superb way to introduce children to classic music performance and opera.
Mozart’s Magic Flute premièred in Vienna, just 3 months before his death, on the 30th September 1791.
The Magic Flute is fairy-tale style Opera: The Night Queen entices a Prince to rescue her daughter from the captivity of a ‘sorcerer’ (high priest). But the Prince learns of the Priests vision and the untruths spoken by the Night Queen and seeks to join with the high priests group. After trials of initiation (to join the priests group), the Prince succeeds and joins the ‘captive’ princess, whilst the Night Queen and her cohorts are vanquished.
